Bridging the Gap mentorship program helps bridge the gap between our advanced and aspiring students and the professional world.
The program is an opportunity for emerging artists to work one on one with our Faculty mentors to further develop their dance practice and gain insight into developing the skills to become leaders and educators within our Tap Dance community across Australia & New Zealand. keeping the Tap Dance community strong and well informed.
We’d like this program to encourage selected students to think critically about how they can contribute to the art form and our community within. Participants will learn how they train, what/ why they train, how to structure a class and how to execute that class to provide both an enjoyable and fun experience but also tackle the intricacies of developing technique or constructing choreography. It’s about developing the skills to grow into an exceptional artist both on and off stage. However, ideally the chosen participants should take the initiative to, with the guidance of their mentor, tailor their experience to best suit their interests and also serve their ambitions.
To be considered for the program, applicants will be required to complete a series of questions and provide evidence of their commitment and care for the art form. Once selected, participants will be paired with a member of the Faculty, and from July to September, in the lead up to the festival, they’ll work together to develop their direction of study based on their interests and goals.
