What has been your most memorable tap class?

The first time I ever took a class with Eden Read. I had no idea who he or anyone else in the class was and they were so welcoming and it was so much fun!

If you were stuck in a room for 2 weeks what are the 3 things you would want with you?

  • Robert Bryndza’s latest novel
  • Some brazilian ground coffee beans from ‘Piccolo’
  • My writing journal

Have you ever been stuck in a lift with someone famous?

Adam Garcia! We weren’t quite ‘stuck’ but we were in a lift together for some time at Covent Garden, London. Had an awesome chat about life in the UK as an Aussie and how mad I was to be teaching school kids over there.

Shan's story

Shannon has danced since the age of 3 (tap, jazz & ballet) through the CSTD – tap being her absolute favourite! She spent 10 years living in the UK and during that time was fortunate enough to participate in many different styles of tap dance through Pineapple Dance Studios. As a primary school teacher, Shannon jumps at any opportunities in which she can bring ‘dance’ into the school setting as she is keen for the students to reap the benefits that she has throughout her life (enjoyment, socialisation, musicality, escapism). She loves the Melbourne Tap Community, along with interstate and overseas members who she’s been privileged to meet and befriend!
