Bridging the Gap Mentorship Program is an opportunity for emerging artists to work one on one with our Faculty mentors to further develop their dance practice and gain insight into developing the skills to become leaders and educators within our Tap Dance community across Australia & New Zealand. Through conversation and practice, each participant will steer their own program with the mentor to explore the values and skills that they will carry with them into a professional career in the industry.
To be considered for the program, applicants will be required to complete a series of questions and provide evidence of their commitment and care for the art form. Once selected, participants will be paired with a member of the Faculty, and from July to September, in the lead up to the festival, they’ll work together to develop their direction of study based on their interests and goals.
At the festival the selected participants will also conduct a class to demonstrate the ideas and skills they have been developing over the process. This is an opportunity for real world experience, being able to apply themselves in a professional environment in front of their peers and mentors.
We plan for this experience to continue beyond the festival and become a regular stream in our annual program to better help bolster our industry and extend our outreach for better education and sense of community, keeping the art form and the Australian Tap Dance community strong and well informed.
Applications will re-open in 2025
