We are delighted to announce the premiere CAPEZIO Showcase taking place on Saturday, October 5 as part of the 2024 Australian Tap Dance Festival Experience in Melbourne.
In our ongoing commitment to fostering talent and providing enriching experiences, the CAPEZIO Showcase will invite tap dancers to present their works. This year, we are offering a limited number of spots for performers to showcase their tap skills in a non-competitive setting.
Participants can express their interest in three categories, solo, duos and groups all welcome. The Australian Tap Dance Festival will select 4 performers from each category:
- Self-Choreographed: Showcase your ability to craft a piece that embodies musicality and expression through tap dance. Share your unique artistic voice through your choreographic choices, selecting music that aligns with your creative intention.
- Improvised Performance: Choose a tune that speaks to you and seize the moment to express yourself through spontaneous improvisation. Make artistic decisions on the spot, allowing your tap dance to unfold dynamically in response to the music.
- Teacher/Studio Choreography Showcase: Present a collaborative piece you have been working on with your studio and/or teacher. Share with us the synergy between student and teacher, the inspiration drawn from studio dynamics, and the artistic growth fostered within the supportive community of your dance studio.
In 2025, there will be two categories to pick from:
A self choreographed dance.
Performers will be critiqued on their ability to craft a piece that demonstrates musically and expression through tap dance. We want to see your artistic voice through your choreographic choices, the music you choose should also reflect your intentions.
Improvised performance.
We will provide a series of Jazz Standards beforehand, from which performers will be able to select the tune they wish to dance to. We will be looking at how the dancers craft a performance on the fly that both follows the structure and supports the musical nuance of their chosen piece.
