Brief info
Garry is a passionate and dynamic artist with a rich background in tap, classical ballet, and contemporary dance. From 2005 to 2015, he performed with The Australian Ballet, bringing to life works by esteemed choreographers such as Graeme Murphy AO, Jiří Kylián, and Rudolf Nureyev on renowned stages in New York, London, Paris, and Tokyo.
In the past decade, Garry has returned to his first artistic love—tap dance—emerging as a vital force in the art form as a performer, choreographer, and mentor. A faculty member of the Australian Tap Dance Festival since 2019, and faculty member for Stockholm Tap Festival in 2025, he has also trained with some of the world’s most accomplished tap artists at festivals in Stockholm, Chicago, and Barcelona.
Most recently, Garry founded Studio Stocks, a contemporary tap dance company dedicated to pushing the boundaries of rhythm and movement. In February 2025, the company premiered Melancholia, an evocative new work exploring the expressive power of tap dance. Studio Stocks is focused on creating more opportunities to advance tap dance and ensure this art form continues to be represented on stage and more visible in our communities.
